Meal Plan Sunday…and some reflection

This morning I had some time to sit and think before the rest of the house woke. I was thinking back to about 6 years ago when I decided to really make a change. And one thing that really struck me was the sense of empowerment I felt – when I decided enough was enough and I wasn’t going to feel that way any longer (despite doctors telling me “everything was normal”). I quickly started to see real changes in my body and how I felt internally. I felt empowered that I did this myself. I did not wait for a doctor to tell me what I had, to give it a name or a condition…because this wasn’t happening anyways. I did not make excuses. I did not wait for a prescription that would just cover up a symptom. I did not just (once again) brush it off by saying to myself “it’s nothing” or “it’s not a big deal” or “this is just how it is”.
What I did do was decide that I wanted more for my life. I wanted to feel good and I wanted to have the energy to do all the things that I really wanted to do. I no longer wanted to wait on some external source to tell me what to do. I DECIDED TO MAKE CHANGES ON MY OWN and everything I needed was at my fingertips (or at least a few minutes away in the produce section) 😉

So it all comes back to that feeling of empowerment. This morning when I look back at that time, that sense of empowerment is what I remember most. I am proud of myself for deciding to make that change.
