Mama Recharged Mocha (dairy-free, refined sugar-free)

Posted on Posted in Recipes

This is a favourite at our house during those cold winter months. Actually I first created a version of this from the hot chocolate recipe that I used to make for my daughter and I after playing outside in the snow. I love the tradition of coming in from the cold and sipping on a hot chocolate together. And instead of drinking a cup of hot sugar…with some cocoa added in 😉 I like to make my own nourishing recipe that won’t lead to a blood sugar, not to mention energy and craving rollercoaster for me or my daughter. To make this recipe into a kid friendly hot chocolate, I just swap the coffee out for almond milk. You can use just almond milk and skip the coconut milk, but if I have it on hand I usually like to add it for that added creaminess.

  1. Brew coffee, add to the jug of your high-powered blender along with remaining ingredients and blend on high for 1 minute. (if you find your dates don't get broken down enough, you can pour the liquid through a fine mesh strainer first.) Transfer to a cup and enjoy!
